French connection

Sucks. It might not be the case for the whole France, but the Internet at my aunts keeps going on and off, and even when it’s on, most pages load so slowly that I forget what I had clicked, and then, after waiting for ever, I get the most annoying message: connection lost (happened a million times during this half hour!). My Reader is also a lost case, and so is my Facebook. Which is really no problem, until I decide to update myself on what’s going on in my world to find out it’ not possible. So annoying. I will not try more today (but then I probably will, damn it!). So buh-bye.

Perhaps tomorrow.

Looking for wonders

Seen at Science Center NEMO

I finally found the opportunity to visit NEMO Science center. There’s a reason science museums are popular, they are always a lot of fun, with many technological things to touch and play with.

I only had one hour to race through all five floors of NEMO, the time just went too fast, and there’s one thing I know forgot to check out. On my way in I spotted a little boy crouched over some sort of hole in the floor by the entrance. I decided to try his point of view on my way out, but forgot all about until I found a picture of the moment on my camera. I wonder what he saw. . .

Decemb...-what?
My friend did some Christmas shopping in Amsterdam

All bloggers writing about Christmas made me realize that we’re in December all of the sudden. The streets have ben illuminated for weeks already, but now Christmas is actually coming to town.

I love Christmas; the decorations, the songs and the presents make me very happy, but I haven’t really gotten around to buy gifts myself yet, and that makes me very stressed.

Is it even possible to find the perfect present for everyone you care about in three weeks?

I would see a new city in Holland this Saturday, I decided. It was a very misty day. Now I have this desperate need to share some thoughts, but don’t feel obliged to read it. I’d probably PASS if I were you. There’s a reason media avoids suicides. Someone jumped in front of the train where I was sitting on the way back to Amsterdam. It was pitch dark, between two stations. Police and railroad workers searched the mud around the train with flashlights. Looking for what? Who was it? Why? How long had the person been standing by the rails, considering his (probably a man – statistics – but who knows) decision? What went through his head? How many trains passed by before the hit?
I had quite a lot of time to reflect on such things while I waited for another train to take me away from the scene.

Also I found the daily quote from WP quite inspirational today. I don’t know if we all get the same, but anyhows:

Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer. BARBARA KINGSOLVER
